Sensitive data handling improvements

Hi All,

We've just rolled out some important improvements to NatureMapr's sensitive data handling framework in consultation with the NSW Government Saving Our Species team.

For Highly Sensitive records, we will now also suppress the Reported Date Time on both sighting details as well as all sighting lists including hover text.

This brings Reported Date Time into alignment with our existing handling of detailed Lat/Long coordinates and suburb/place name.

By Highly Sensitive records, we mean:

  • Sightings of a highly sensitive species; AND
  • Sightings of a non sensitive or sensitive species which have been elevated to highly sensitive states due to one or more reasons
(E.g. nesting/breeding sites, private property, individual privacy reasons)

These changes have been implemented at the API level which means they will be blanket enforced platform wide.

Please note: integration to our state and commonwealth data partners will be unaffected.

We want to stress that NatureMapr is not locked in stone and it is only thanks to the continued input and feedback from the people and professionals that use it are we are to continue to shape it into a better and better product.
