A highly significant find, this is only the second population of this nationally rare gum in the ACT.

User's notes

Six seedlings sitting on the summit ridge, presumably they have germinated following the 2020 burn from seed blown other from Blue gum hill. This only the 2nd know site of this euc in the ACT and as such is highly significant

Fantastic find, from your comments it seems there were no adult trees around so this is really a "new" population. Great to see that this species can still disperse.

Great find Ciaran. I wonder how many other summits may have been colonised this way post mega fire updrafts. We had debris falling on our roof in the earlier mega fire although we are at least 20 km from the fire front at Mt tenant and Ingeldene pines.I I can imagine that Banksia and Hakea winged seeds could disperse widely through such pyrocumulus formations in mega fires

Appreciate it guys, I certainly couldn't find any adult trees myself but perhaps they were just hiding somewhere along the ridge. Hopefully these seedlings will succeed and we'll have another stand of this species in the ACT.

Booroomba Rocks has been well surveyed for plants the southern summits less so. How likely is it that mature trees have been missed
