This bird soared overhead quite high and with gusto. It was bigger than a swallow or a martin but other than that all I saw was from this behind shot area. Is this a swift? The wing shape was weird.

I didn't know swallows could do this shape with their wings? At first I thought this bird was a black winged stilt - that's how big it was - until i took the pic. I was with two other birdos and they didn't know what it was either and one of them had binoculars.

Thanks for the extra details Kylie. I’m still getting swallow from this, but given there were several observers, and you’re observations regarding the size of the bird, I’m dubious. I might have to leave this one as inconclusive. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
