Camponotus tricoloratus has been most commonly recorded in WA and SA, but there are also records from QLD, NSW, ACT and Vic. Around the Southern Tablelands it is uncommon but readily recognised by the distinctive shape of the head, very long antennae and shape of petiolar node.
