Hanseniella sp. (Symphylan)


Order Cephalostigmata, family Scutigerellidae.

These small invertebrates belong to the Class Symphyla, which is one of the four classes of myriapods (arthropods with many legs). The other myriapod classes are Chilopoda (centipedes), Diplopoda (millipedes) and Pauropoda. Symphylans are several millimetres long, have white bodies with 11-12 pairs of legs and lack eyes. Hanseniella has 11 pairs of legs.
