What a great photo Charles. It would have been helpful if a photo of the top of the fungus could have been included. It appears to be a Polypore that I've never seen before!

Hi Pam it was up a tree unfortunately will go over my files and see if I have more images of it

As I am unable to give a name to this great looking fungus with confidence I will just leave the id as a polypore - sorry.
