Hi Charles. Have it on good authority (Allen Sundholm) that this species is C. tricolor, a fairly common species in your neck of the woods. I note you have only confirmed to genus?

Yes at the time we had an issue with the website not allowing new species to be added, I will get around to it tonight and fix the ID for you. There is a site which helps ID some of the Jewel beetles you might like.

The Museums Victoria link above seems to be broken, but there are images of 12 species of Castiarina at Mipus nodosus
