Hi Loki ... to change the exact location, go to edit and then zoom in on the map, and move the marker to the exact location.
Nice critter! Let's see if our experts can ID it for you

Loki, I'm just wondering when you photographed this. The record says yesterday, but I'm guessing that it was a while ago (?)
Also, is there anything else you can tell us about it? How big? Was it in deep water or shallow? Was it on the sand when you found it, or in the algae or rocks? that sort of thing ...
The more information, the more likely we are to be able to identify it for sure.
Thanks!

It was on the sand when I saw it, the water was about 2m deep. I photographed the sea slug 1 year ago at the Bruce Steer pool. It was the size of child’s scrunched up fist.

Hi Loki - no, not yet. It may take a week or two for the marine scientists to get back to us, but I'm sure they will. In the meantime, here's a link to a research paper they wrote describing many of the species in NSW. Don't worry about reading the details ... it's a bit technical ... but you'll find lots of colour photos. I looked through and could not see any that looked quite like yours, but perhaps you'll notice something I missed.

Hi Loki,
I've heard back from one marine scientist, and he says he's never seen an animal like yours before! And he has dived along the South Coast for many years ... so it seems your sea slug is indeed an uncommon one. Keep an eye out for any more. It might be quite a new discovery!
