User's notes

Strobilomyces sp. Cap - dark pyramidal scales  with projecting marginal veil remnants; Flesh - off white changing to orange / red slowly (within 60 seconds) of injury and turning almost black within 5 minutes Tubes - adnexed colour change as above, same with pores Stipe - 12 x 2 cm approx. colour change as above; area below ground remained pale grey. I did not collect spore print on this trip. Dr. Roy Halling's comment:- Yes , indeed, it's a Strobilomyces. It should have round black spores. Ornaments can be reticulate or some other ornamentation.

Great to have photos of that very distinctive colour change to red when cut. Good diagnostic photos
