Smelt before being found beneath the ferns; here you can see the fruit body and the egg from which the next body will spring overnight.

Yes I found some recently..............by their smell!! I actually collected and dried one, the drying took the smell away thank goodness otherwise Jim would have kicked me out of the house. They are a striking looking fungus.
