Was the plant prostrate, sprawling, or upright? This looks more like Persoonia subvelutina to me. It also has leaves that have margins curved to rolled down. The Plantnet key differentiates these two species on the flowers. Mollis has ‘petals’ 8-11.5 mm long, and yellow anthers. Subvelutina has ‘petals’ 11-15 mm long, and white anthers.
Perhaps someone could look at this shrub at flowering time - Spring-Autumn for mollis; Jan-March for subvelutina.

This plant was prostrate, but there were no flowers, only fruit. We are pretty sure it is revoluta, as an ecologist, Steve Douglas confirmed this too. We will try and get the owners to photograph the flowers to confirm.
