A strange mass of irregular shaped maze of white poroid material shaped like a 'tube worm' initially, growing from the earth.
On digging, one finds some specimens have a stem up to 15 cm long attached to wood, yet others appear not to have a stem at all.
As these specimens mature, they open our into a kidney shape, the irregular maze becomes the undersurface or hymenophore, and the cap is revealed as a finely velvety, concentrically zoned, porous white margin gradually darkening through shades of buff to brownish in the centre.
No bruising or colour change was noted on handling; however photography revealed a few minor droplets of a brown exudate in the centre.
Odour - mushroomy
KOH applied to both surfaces with no resultant colour change noted.
Spore print - white
