This 'toadstool' was on the walking track behind Seven Mile Beach, near Beach rd Berry

This belongs to the group of fungi known as 'ink caps'. This is because as the spores, which are black, mature from the edge of the cap in towards the centre the cap liquifies to form an ink-like substance! These are decomposers (saprotrophic) and are cycling nutrients back into the substrate.
