Thanks Jackie. I have 2 other photos but I wasn't able to master the edit button to post them. I'll try again another time. I'll endeavour to remember terrestrial invertebrates for the future.

Yes, a spider egg sac, also a dead spider and a dead insect, apparently a stink bug. The dead spider is unrecognisable, but the egg sac looks like Araneidae, perhaps one of the non-orbweaving members of the family.

On seeing this again, I'm thinking it could be Redback spider. Was it in a dry location? (Redbacks don't seem to like moist places.)
