User's notes
Small rubbery flattish fungi. Dark brown with lighter coloured ring around the brown, followed by white. Underside white with pores. Growing out of shallow tree root. The last 2 images were taken in a slightly different spot but I think they are the same type. Apologies if I am wrong.

I'm confirming your smaller specimen, good example of the red showing when damaged. There is a good chance the larger one is the same. Though as I can't be sure and the fact that the images were in slightly differnt spots it might be safer to place the larger one under a separate sighting. The thing that would confirm that one as an A. rude is if you scratch the pores as you did with the little one they should go red then black. Let me know how you get on if you're able to get back and check it out.

I revisited the spot Pam, but there was no evidence of either group. I'm pretty sure I was in the right spot. The wildlife, Lyrebirds in particular, hit the fungi pretty hard. I have managed to check out the unidentified dark brown fungi that you asked me to keep an eye on. It changed in appearance completely. They ended up looking similar to Pleurotus sp. (I think). I will try and post another photo with the original (dark brown) ones.
