User's notes

At least three eucalypts on Federation Hill have these small, tubular white markings extending up their trunks/branches. Presumably created by an insect of some sort - am curious to know what they are.

The small circular raised blobs are the culprits. A scale of some kind - will try track down an identification

Thank you very much, Michael. I look forward to hearing the outcome. When a well-regarded local naturalist didn't know what they were I just had to take this further. Appreciate your time, Lizette

I asked Kim Pullen (Australian National Insect Collection) about this one he said "It is a Felted scale, family Eriococcidae. I’m not sure of the genus – may be Lachnodius or the recently described Lobimargo, or something else. I’ll make enquiries."
