Single blackbird's head just popping out of a nest hollow

it was just a guess - bit hard to tell from the pic. I've never seen a blackbird put a nest in a dead tree, though apparently by my guide book they do put nests in trees! At home they have used my ivy geranium, my rose bush, and another low to the ground shrub.
