thank you darcy! I went out early this morning in the humid overcast conditions and managed to get two pairs of this species. This one with the chicks and another bird a little further off, and a pair sitting on a nest that didn't appear to have hatched. Way better than the photos I got last year.

They are surprisingly difficult to see on the water - it looks like a duck or a bit of driftwood!
