Quite a rare visitor to the area, likely passing through

User's notes

Is it even possible? I could have sworn that this bird I saw this morning was a rufous fantail. Didn't think they ever came into our area? And of course, I had the short lens on the camera at that moment. It was in a pocket of wattle shrubbery with lots of other small birds frolicking when it just darted out - did a bit of a fan dance and went back into cover! I don't even believe it - and I saw it!

Good chance it is, they migrate through here occasionally, and there was a reliable sighting of one at the back end of Thurgoona on the 18th March

Thank you Darcy. I think it was one in a million that I saw it. It was the way back - didn't see it on the way past the first time.

Oh ps. The other rufous coloured things in shot are bunches of wattle seeds dried off.
