This seems to be first record in Australia of Thread Agave as a naturalised plant - given its roadside location, I suspect it is a result of illegal dumping of garden waste

Not D.excelsa. An introduced Agave type plant ?

Pretty sure this is an agave species.

Then again maybe not an Agave, the filaments on the sides of the leaves reminded me of Agave filifera, but now I look more closely I'm not convinced. And I'm not sure what other species might have curly filaments on the sides of the leaves like that.

I don't believe Agave filifera hasn't been recorded in Australia before, but otherwise matches superficially.

Does Doryanthes, or other other plant you can think of have those filaments on the sides of the leaves?

This also looks like some photos on the internet I'm seeing of Yucca filimentosa. Most do not have the filaments but a few do.

Well not recorded as naturalised in Australia it is used in Australia as a garden succulent and can be readily obtained
