Spied this bee in the garden on Philotheca myoporoides. We have previously had Lipotriches
(austronomia) australica nesting in the garden before so I assume it is one of - those perhaps a male or freshly emerged. It appeared to be intent on feeding. Area is in the Blue Mountains, NSW.

The images are sharp enough so that you can see the hairy eyes. Trichocolletes usually visit pea flowers, but do visit others occasionally. If there is any Hardenbergia in flower watch for them there.

Thank you Michael. Yes we have Hardenbergia growing adjacent to the wax flowers, which have been visited by several Trichocolletes bees. For some reason I did not recognise this as Trichocolletes - perhaps because it was still! They are normally very tricky to photograph as they don't spend much time on any one flower. Was this a male?
