@Liam.m - I've had two people identify this as an Olive Whistler on ABID. Just wanted to make sure we have a Golden Whistler here. Is there no possibility of it being an Olive Whistler?
yeah I wasn’t really too sure. I see why you’d say olive, but I’m still leaning towards golden. It is in a very very odd location, and the posture is throwing me off, generally I’d expect olives to be a bit stockier with a thicker bill. I’ve asked Luke for his opinion so we’ll see if he has any other input. You don’t happen to have any other photos? The colour might be accentuated slightly by the lighting.
Luke agrees with a weird looking golden. Largely for the same reasons (adding that Olive whistlers in that region are restricted to higher altitudes and very different habitats.). Size and posture is just not right for an olive.
I've had similar comments in ABID about this not being the right area for an Olive Whistler. The only explanation I can think of is that the original photo was underexposed so I had to lighten the shadows quite a bit in processing, so maybe that has affected the colouring.
