This is a rare elusive species with poor records and rarely seen nor well understood. It has very small flowers which are reluctant to open or do not open at all. This the first CNM record of this species.

I think on closer inspection I'd suggest Calochilus not Thelymitra.

Yes possibly. How long for them to flower from this stage? I'll go back and have a look.

You are probably right actually Derek, I think I see the tips of some beards.

Bethany unfortunately I think they have finished. There is little sign of the leaf so that makes it harder but yes Cairan that's what I thought I could see after being concerned with the number of bracts at the bottom. An interesting find and one to look for in following years.

Bethany and Ciaran I can now confirm they are Calochilus as I went out and had a look and have taken some photos of a partly open flower.
I was wrong about them being finished as the flowering is only about halfway through but the flowers are reluctant to open and small and there are leaves but they are also small or almost none existent.
In total I found a total of six plants with the others further down the slope. When I have had a good look at my different photos I will make a decision regarding the species which could prove very interesting as I think this the best candidate I have seen for the elusive C. saprophyticus I have seen to date. Bethany you could if you like send me a message using the internal message system.
