User's notes
This was huge - the foot about 40cm long. It was in only about 1-1.5m of water and looked like it was following a scent, waving its siphon around and changing course. When I left it was climbing up onto a rock outcrop. It left a visible mucous trail behind on the seabed.

Great to see photos of the living animal on the hunt. I'm not sure of the species but this volute seems the closest ID I can find.
