Also in flower in Mount Taylor Nature Reserve (as you know). Will upload soon. So early this year!

Autumn flowering orchids, notably the cauline greenhoods, eriochilus and corunastylis are heavily dependent on summer rain followed by cooler temperatures to initiate flowering. Given all the rain we had through Jan, it is perhaps not surprising that they are behaving this way. What is interesting is that not all species have come early. I haven't seen Corybas hispidus or Acianthus exsertus yet for instance.

@Tapirlord I noted Thelymitras and Dipodiums flowering 2-3 weeks early out here, but by contrast, the Microtis were so late I was starting to think I wouldn't see any at all...then they bloomed like mad! Everything seems to be a little confused.

Excellent year for Corunastylis in the Southern Highlands when I was working there last week, with the good rains at the end of last year, too, though I've never found any here.

Confused is the word of the season I reckon, it's sure been an interesting one! It has def been a great year for Corunastylis, some gorgeous ones up in the hills and on coastal sandstone as well. Such a pretty group of orchids, you'll have to find one sometime with your skillset!
