The sequence of images shows a female Blue Banded Bee that was observed for several minutes as it explored the gaps between pebbles in a path. The bee generally hovered above gaps but sometimes landed and entered the gaps briefly. It also appeared to stop in flight at times and focus on tiny green seedlings. In this sequence, the second image shows the bee withdrawing from a gap and pulling out a seedling. The first image shows the bee with the seedling, which it then dropped before moving on. This behaviour was watched for some time before the bee flew away. As I haven't seen this behaviour before (although it might be quite common) some additional sequences are shown in following two sightings 4563825 and 4563826 to illustrate it.
