Daughter found on the footpath @ a local playground - she moved it to the bushes so it didn't get hurt.

This is a moderately common species across SW WA. Around Perth they breed in Peppermint Trees (Agonis flexuosa)

I added it, got a response it occurs in the SW of WA, but when I try to ID it as such here and hit Enter, nothing happens. Drives me nuts. Gotta be an easier way!

ID done. The species name was present. Entom2, maybe you were looking at the sighting from a different region's page.

Many thanks Michael. Would I be right in thinking that the regionalisation of species is at the core of the 'adding a species' problem? If so, it is, making it tricky for old codgers like me to add an unlisted species :-(.

@entom2 I may be able to answer your query. If you can't find a species in a regional area, you can click the Can't find it button. This will then list the global list of all species within the NatureMapr database. If you still can't find it in this list, it is then that you need to add a new species. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks guys for updating info! I'm new to this & after a google search, came across this site & thought it would be cool to add a sighting as we have never seen a beetle like this before.
Unfortunately when the kids went back to the park about a week later, the beetle was in the same spot & hadn't moved :(
