I think this might be a red ash seedling. Was the undersurface of the leaf white?

Yes looks like _Alphitonia excelsa_ or a different _Alphitonia_ species such as _A. petriei_ .
Confirming this does not identify to a _Ficus_ species.
For example check these photographs for _Ficus_ stipules, quite different to _Alphitonia_ stipules .
And yes are these leaves' undersides white ?
