I believe this to be an Angophora, but am not up to distinguishing different species yet. However what I saw of this seemed typical of other trees I’ve pencilled in as possible Angophoras These photos become more silhouette than picture the higher up I tried to capture. Photo 1 shows the base of the trunk, with the shingly type of brown-grey bark and dark stain from ‘bleeding’ I’ve come to associate with Angophoras around Copmanhurst, NSW North Coast. Photo 2 takes us further up the lower trunk, (with a wattle trunk and possibly a branch of Red Ash getting in the way!). Photo 3 looks at the upper trunk and the first branching off. The Angophoras leaves are at the very top centre of the photo, (all other foliage is not relevant to this tree). Photos 4 & 5 are attempts to get a sense of the canopy ~ branches & leaves, but as said, ended up being more like silhouettes. However the classic gnarly shapes of the branches may be of some help with identification.
