A large black and orange wasp feeding on flowers of a Common Silkpod (Parsonia straminea – refer Sighting 4640075). This wasp appears to have an all black thorax, whilst the abdomen appears orange after the 1st all black segment, with 4 brown-black bands fringing each subsequent segment; these bands take an inverted ‘V’ shape. (photos 1 & 2). The upper legs are all black, becoming orange, and ending in, what look to be, black ‘feet’. The head is orange with the exception of the black and ‘V-shaped’ mouth parts, the brown-black eyes and a psossible black mark at the centre top of the head above the antennae (photo3). It may be all-black on the underside of the head (photos 2 & 5). Antennae and wings are orange (photo 4). The translucent wings appear to be fringed in brown-black on their outer edges, and venation appears brown-black (photo2). This wasp could be the same Sp as the one at sighting 4695845, which was sighted on the same plant 3 weeks earlier.
