User's notes

This wasp emerged from a caterpillar pupa about 6 weeks after the caterpillar went underground. Unfortunately, I didn't get a photo of the caterpillar before it started to disappear but it was a pale brown stick like caterpillar that looked like this: https://tasmanianinsectfieldguide.com/hexapoda/insectsoftasmanialepidoptera/caterpillars-by-colour-2/light-brown-caterpillars/ By the time I got a photo it was burrowing and looked like it was starting to develop a hard shell. After the wasp emerged, I unearthed the pupa case and found a bit of lightly clumped soil with a mostly transparent shell with a round hole in it.
