Argonauta nodosus (Paper nautilus)

We rarely see even small parts of the Nautilus shells on our beaches. The shell is beautifully striated with ridges and as the name suggests, paper thin, so once the animal has died, the shell gets destroyed swiftly in the surf.

The shell found on Bournda Beach in 2017 is a rarity for us.
