Rainbowia sp. (genus) (A mite)

Family Erythraeidae. These conspicuous mites are usually seen on the trunks of eucalypts. When immature they parasitise insects, and as adults they are predators of other small arthropods (e.g. arachnids and insects). The genus is named after William J. Rainbow (1856-1919), who was an arachnologist and entomologist at the Australian Museum in Sydney.
