Filoboletus manipularis

The fruitbody consists of a cap atop a central stem, with pores on the underside of the cap. The fruitbody has a fleshy texture, the cap is smooth, up to 3 centimetres in diameter and the stem (smooth to slightly hairy) may be up to 6 centimetres long and 3 millimetres in diameter. The whole fruitbody is white to cream or very pale brownish.

Spore print: white.

The fruitbodies grow on wood and often appear in clusters.

Look-alikes

This species is quite distinctive. After a hurried glance you might mistake Filoboletus manipularis for a Mycena but fruitbodies of the latter genus have gills, not pores, on the underside of the cap.
