Anilios sp. (blind snakes)


Worm-like snakes with greatly reduced eyes, so not really blind as such.

Burrowing habit but occasionally seen above ground (usually at night) or unearthed beneath rocks, logs etc. 

Several Australian native species of blind snake belonging to the genus Anilios may be confused with an exotic species of blind snake, Indotyphlops braminus ('Flowerpot Snake'), which has been introduced to Australia and its island territories, especially in coastal Queensland.
