Acanthoscelides obtectus (Bean weevil)


COLEOPTERA: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae: Bruchini

A worldwide pest of leguminous seeds, including foods such as Common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) and Peas (Pisum sativum). The damage is caused by the larvae of the beetle; adults feed on pollen.

Despite being called a 'weevil', it is classified in the Leaf beetle family, Chrysomelidae.
