Endemic to the wet tropics bio-region NE. Qld., 
known only from the Cooper, Noah and Oliver Creek catchments, Cape Tribulation and perhaps Cedar Bay areas
[furthermore also occurs in: Daintree River catchment (AVH) and Mossman River catchment (AVH) – ref's: Au Virtual Herbarium (AVH) 2026 March 23rd, Coopers (2004), etc. . ]. 
Altitudinal range quite small, from near sea level to 540 m.
Grows as an under-storey plant in undisturbed lowland and upland rain forest.
