Chalcopteroides cupripennis (Rainbow darkling beetle)


Of the three large species of Chalcopteroides in the region, this is the least often seen. It is similar to the more common C. columbinus, but the pronotum is noticeably 'transverse' (wider than long) and always black, not greenish. Also, the longitudinal rows of punctures on the elytra are much finer, in fact they are often barely discernable.
