Hypomyces group

This ia a parasitic group of Ascomycota fungi. There are a number of different species which are not always readily identifiable so I have placed them all under 'Hypomyces group'.

Two families of fungi seem to be particularly susceptible to this parasite, the Boletaceae and Russulaceae. When fungi are infected by this parasite they become thickly coated as the Hypomyces grows over the surface of that host fungus. The colours most often seen are white and bright yellow or even brown or red. These may be different species or different stages of the same species. The host may become distorted and not be able to be identified.
