Heleioporus australiacus flavopunctatus (Giant Burrowing Frog)

This newly recognised southern subspecies occurs from south of the Kangaroo Valley, NSW to near Walhalla in central Gippsland, Victoria.

They tend to be larger and a darker shade on the dorsum and flanks and more brightly marked on the flanks than the nominate northern subspecies.

For sightings north of the Kangaroo Valley yet south of the Sydney Basin bioregion (or if in doubt) it may be prudent to enter sightings as Heleioporus australiacus.
