Definitely an escapee. This colour mutation does not occur in the wild (to the best of my knowledge), and Red-rumps are rarely recorded from the Jervis Bay area in the first place.

Thanks for sighting Looks like they are feeding on a Hawthorn - probably Cratageus smithiana - or Mexican Hawthorn
