An interesting angle. This one left me confused for quite a while, nothing came to mind. Have finally thought of female Rose Robin which is the best I can come up with. Still not confident though. If it is a female Rose Robin you may have noticed buff wing bars?

This one has me stumped. I note the white outer tail feathers, so Robin is a possibility. Alison, do you have any other images of this bird. Chris

Hi, I am not sure what to do with this image. I have shown it around to various experts and the id ranges from a Whistler of some sort to a Robin. I am afraid I am not prepared to call on this one, not confident on Rose Robin. I will leave the image up for a while longer in case someone else has some thoughts.

The bill and head does seem finer than a whistler would have, but hard to be sure.

I have had a good look through all my photos of both Whistlers and Robins. I think that the shapes of the tail is more like a Whistler but the time of year and lack of striations seem to favour a Robin. The stance of the bird is also more consistent with a Whistler. I think the bill/head shape is just odd because of the angle. My only other thought was a Jacky Winter or Grey Shrike-thrush (the angle may make the length look shorter than it is)? The tail shape fits for a Shrike-thrush, as does the stance. I am not very familiar with Jacky Winters. :)

I am afraid that we will have to set this one aside for the time being. There seems to be some doubt with the id. We may be able to id with confidence in time as the photo library becomes more extensive. Most annoying for this is the first image we have had problems with. Chris
