Sorry for taking so long about this. I was waiting for a comment from Michael Mulvaney, who agreed that it is genistifolia.. It is genistifolia rather than ulicifolia because the ‘leaves’ are usually round in cross-section as in the photos and constrict abruptly to a sharp point. In ulicifolia they are always triangular in cross-sectiom and taper gradually to a sharp point. Also, at least in Canberra, ulicifolia usually has a fine pointed stipule 1-2 mm long at the bases of the ‘leaves’

Not really. Both species flower at the same time here in Canberra, so we are very aware of what to look for.
