These were emerging everywhere in about a 20 to 30 metre radius. Area was fire affected in end of January early February

Great record. From the leaves on the ground I'm assuming there were Eucalypts around. This species often appears in Eucalypt forests on recently burnt areas. They may be confused with another large Cortinarius species, C. australiensis, though this species is often much larger and grows in unburnt forests.
