Basidiomycota - gilled fungus

Cap: too 150 mm across, brodly convex to plano-convex, slightly viscid when moist, almost smooth.

Gills: Cream at first, becoming darker tan/brown as spores mature.

Spores: Rust-brown in deposit. Ellipsoidal, warty.

Stem: Short above ground with a depply rooting underground portion descending to 200 mm or more into the ground.

Habitat: Eucalypt forests

Substrate: Soil. Mycorrhizal

Habit: Usually single specimens and groups.

Comments: This fungus is more common after bush fires.
