New recorded location for this threatened grasshopper

User's notes

Suspected immature K. scurra. In remnant native vegetation at Christ Church Bungonia. Possibly a new site for this species? Bungonia cemetery was surveyed on 14/11/2023 with no Keyacris recorded. Last record is 2019. Mowing in wrong season perhaps responsible for decline.

Yes there has been a big decline/extinction in many cemeteries due to more rigorous mowing regimes outside the graves areas. Wombat cemetery has gone from estimates of 10,000 in the 60's to zero today. There has been a bit of a fixation on cemeteries derived from the collection sites of White & Key and we are now finding more populations in different habitats oiutside the typical natural temperate grassland
