A group of 8-10 birds feeding on Fig fruits. There seemed to be some begging happening from possibly young birds. This species was seen in this location each day that we were here over a few days.

Dont know, but they were there each time w/e passed by. The photos that show feeding the feeding bird are 17/07/2024, I also saw (but NOT Photo'd) similar sized group around the same area on 16/07/2024, I have one other sighting registered for this location on 08/07/2024 these were flying and roosting/feeding, they were quite disturbed at one stage. How do you tell the difference from the inland sub spp.? I have shots from Bourke that show a lot of orange on the tail, is this distinctive?

Ah yes, I can see your other record from here was assigned as a straight Red-tailed Black-cockatoo not a subspecies. It appears the main difference between the subspecies is the overall size and beak size. The females have more orange in their tail.
