Distocupes varians (Reticulated beetle)

Family Cupedidae

A small, elongate and heavily sculptured beetle covered in scales producing a mottled appearance. The elytra carry ridges separated by close rows of regular, deep pits.

Compared to Adinolepis mathesonae (the only other Reticulated Beetle species in the Canbera NatureMapr area), Distocupes varians is slightly broader and flatter, and the suture (the line where the elytra meet) is not uniformly dark.
