Merimnetes celmisiae (Blue Celmisia Weevil)

Curculionidae: Entiminae: Leptopiini

This weevil, clothed in bright blue scales, is named after the Snow Daisy Celmisia on which it was originally found.

It is known only from the alpine zone of the Australian Alps in NSW and Victoria. This makes it vulnerable to a warming climate, as the temperature envelope it is adapted to may disappear altogether.
