Differs from the more common G. billardierei in having fronds less than 5 cm long. Sori (spore clusters) are globose to oblong, 2-25 pairs in the upper 2/3 of the frond. Grows on rocks and trees in rainforest and sclerophyll forest, south to Pigeon House.
